The ban on data location could allow very sensitive data to be transferred abroad, such as the addresses of children in care (whose dangerous parents might try to find them), where we can no longer ensure that the data is stored securely. To protect children and adults from harm, we need strong regulation of the internet and digital systems and products, but this could be narrowed down by inappropriate rules for digital commerce. . . .
